David is one of the world’s leading and most respected rare wine experts.

Taking an junior administrative position at Christie’s Wine Department in London in July 1998, David quickly rose through the ranks and to head up their New York Wine Department just over two years later. After 4+ years in New York as the International Wine Department’s leading taster and business getter, David resigned and moved back to London to work as a freelance consultant. He took up a position on the Senior Management Team of New York based Zachys in 2006, he then set up and opened their Hong Kong office in 2008. As the market exploded in 2010 David moved to Hong Kong in July the following year as Senior Managing Director to fully develop, manage and run both the retail and auction businesses across Europe and Asia.

In a little over 5 years David took the Asian business from a less than 5% of total spend with in the company in July 2008, the more than 55% of total spend in 2013. Looking for a new challenge and with growing demand for his guidance and expertise, David set up Wainwright Advisors in 2015.

Having worked extensively in Europe, the UK, USA and Asia over a 17+ year time period has given Mr Wainwright unrivalled experience, that qualify him as the global source for guidance and true expertise in fine and rare wine.
